The power of images.

Have you ever felt so compelled and provoked by an image? Be it a piece of artwork, a photograph or an advertisement, the power behind images can be so great that they propel discussion, cause outrage, entice or disgust people.

I find myself on a daily basis in total awe and inspired by images. And then in the heat of the moment I ask myself; Why am I not creating these images? Am I really happy being an on-looker?

Even if you don't know what it is, even if you spend time trying new things and finding out that they weren't right for you, always live in your inspiration and create something. For an idea is merely an idea, until it is put into action.

These are some of the most heart breaking iconic images I've ever seen:

Kevin Carter – Vulture Stalking a Child

Huynh Cong Ut – Napalm Strike

Eddie Adams

Lawrence Beitler – Lynchin

Mike Wells – Uganda

Richard Drew – The Falling Man (September 11, 2001)

Wish list wish list

My hearts monogamy is questionable. It tells my brain that it's true love is art, will always be faithful to art, may even communicate to my hand every now and then to make sweet, sweet love to art on a bed of paper, with a stiff graphite pencil.

But alas, the reality is that my heart has always been swayed and tempted by other things. Sometimes it's by fashion, sometimes it's by interior design... But its true mistress is in-fact, Aesthetics herself. I guess that's where my love for art grew from. I don't remember a time when my thoughts were not filled with the imagery of an empty space, eagerly awaiting the arrival of beautiful things to sit inside of it.

I mean, who doesn't love to be surrounded by beautiful things, be always thinking about beautiful things, go out and spend their hard earned on adorning themselves in, you guessed it: beautiful things?!

Here is my extreme Christmas Wish List. Part One. (Take note, Stephen!)

An Artists Studio

Seriously longing after a studio space of my own. A big open space, NYC Loft style or perhaps somewhere nestled amongst the bush, with huge windows, wooden floors, white walls, all ready to be splattered with paint and filled to the brim with my clutter and inspirational clippings.
My dream would be to wake up, drive to the studio and spend all day and all night in there working away.
If you can dream it...

Intertwined.

I'm absolutely in love with these images.
I miss my boyfriend.
I'm working on a video right now, a time laps of me painting from start to finish, this may take some time. Enjoy the pictures.

back home.

(Pictures from her website found here and video from the Triple J website.)

I've been gone a while now, I was basically, discouraged. I respect the people who have the commitment and means to make their blogs and work a success. I've recently returned home from a trip overseas to a huge convention called the Avatar Wizards Course. This was my second one, and it was breathtaking, amazing, grounding and completely awesome. I saw some of my closest friends from all over the world again, and re found my feet which I had abandoned/overlooked due to discouragement and misaligning actions last year.

I feel like starting a fresh. After having just lost my cushy day job, I'm in a brilliantly uncomfortable position to pursue and create my dreams. I have to re organize, re assess and align my beliefs and efforts towards a goal.

As a testament to this new chapter, I'm paying respect to a beautiful young photographer called Nirrimi Hakanson, whose work is always inspiring and continues to open up my imagination.

Check out her blog too, here.
